Stella goes Hawaiian...

Ummm, can you tell by now that I love this Stella paper packet!!! Can't stop using it! Here is the first of two layouts using the Stella Canvas Complement stickers that will be available for purchase tomorrow!!!

Meet Stella

It's kind f crazy how January seems to be flying by for me but one good thing is that starting February 1st, we officially will launch Close to My Heart's new Idea Book! Trust me, it is better than ever, if that is even possible!! So here is your not so sneek peek at my first Workshop on the Go that we will be working on in February: Stella!!

How cute and happy is this paper pack! The alphabet stamp used is one of my faves, Token Alphabet and the colors are rich and very vibrant. Another Croptastic Time Had By All!!

2012 is starting off with a bang with a great crop! We had fun, raffles, ate yummy food and the creative artwork by all the attendees were amazing! Thank you all for making my job so much fun and so very easy!!
We had a lot of participants who took advantage of my optional layout class - thank you!!

Hmmm...Where is our Florida Winter?

Is it just me or does it seems we are unseasonably warm here in Florida this year? Not complaining but a little chill in the air would be nice for the holidays - we are expecting tempereature near 80 degrees! So no winter wonderland -- which leads me to one of our kits of the month called Wonderland. It is super duper cute and I used my first layout for our Hanukkah celebrations.

Of course-- you can leave the suggested title of "Let it Snow" or nameit whatever you would like as that is the beauty of stamping a title - complete customization.
The second layout in the kit was a lot of fun as well - and completely different:

I know a lot of my customers are off to a great start sincwe they joined me for Christmas card workshops and creative classes with great gift ideas. This is the Roxie Workshop on the Go that we will be working on in December and it just makes me happy! I am waiting for the right pictures -- but I am sure I will come up with some soon! Crop, Eat - Repeat!

I LOVE planning my All-Day Crops. So much fun to always try to raise the bar and keep the girls happy!! Last Saturday we cropped all day in Deerfield Beach --just wanted to share my optional make and take art as well as some well requested recipes...

This was the optional make & take layout the ladies got a chance to make. I designed it using paper from the Mischief and Bliss paper collections. Added some grey flannel cardstock to the black and colonial white and stamped dimensionals and backround with my favorite stamp set, Love Life.

The flowers and medallion as well as bracket shapes were all cut using our Art Philosophy cartridge for Cricut! I am soooo loving this! Hmm and love that ribbon too -it is our striped grograin ribbon. Pearls and designer rhinestone brads round out the layout.

Ok, now on to recipes. Below are the recipes for my Unstuffed Pepper Casserole and Butternut Squash Lasagna. Enjoy!

Unstuffed Pepper Casserole

1 lb lean ground beef
2 green peppers, chopped
1/2 vidalia onion, chopped
3 cloves garlic, minced
2 cups of cooked brown or white rice
24 oz marinara sauce
1 1/2 cups shredded Italian style cheese

Saute onions, peppers and garlic in a bit of olive oil until caramelized in a large skillet. Add the meat and garlic and cook until brown. Make sure you season well with kosher salt and pepper. Drain any extra fat from your skillet. Add the rice, marinara and 3/4 cups of cheese. Adjust your seasoning as necessary. Spoon into 2 quart casserole and top with remaining cheese. Bake at 350 until heated through and cheese has melted.

Butternut Squash Lasagna

1 Tbsp olive oil
2 pounds butternut squash, peeled, seeded, and cut into 1-inch cubes
Salt and freshly ground black pepper
1/2 cup water
3 amaretti cookies, crumbled
1/4 cup butter
1/4 cup all-purpose flour
3 1/2 cups whole milk
Pinch nutmeg
3/4 cup (lightly packed) fresh basil leaves
12 no-boil lasagna noodles
2 1/2 cups shredded whole-milk mozzarella cheese
1/3 cup grated Parmesan

Heat the oil in a heavy large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the squash and toss to coat and season with salt and pepper. Pour the water into the skillet and then cover and simmer over medium heat until the squash is tender, stirring occasionally, about 20 minutes. Cool slightly and then mash the squash, leaving just a few lumps. Add the amaretti cookies. Season the squash puree, to taste, with more salt and pepper.

Melt the butter in a heavy medium-size saucepan over medium heat. Add the flour and whisk for 1 minute. Gradually whisk in the milk. Bring to a boil over medium-high heat. Reduce the heat to medium and simmer until the sauce thickens slightly, whisking often, about 5 minutes. Whisk in the nutmeg. Cool slightly. Transfer half of the sauce to a blender. Add the basil. Very important that you only fill blender halfway and that you do not completely seal blender. Hold cover with clean kitchen towel instead to prevent an explosion!!! Blend until smooth. Return the basil sauce to the rest of the sauce in the pan and stir to blend. Season the sauce with salt and pepper, to taste.
Position the rack in the center of the oven and preheat to 375 degrees F. Lightly butter a 13 by 9 by 2-inch lasagna pan. Spread 3/4 cup of the sauce over the prepared baking dish. Arrange 3 lasagna noodles on the bottom of the pan. Spread 1/3 of the squash puree over the noodles. Sprinkle with 1/2 cup of mozzarella cheese. Drizzle 1/2 cup of sauce over the noodles. Repeat layering 3 more times.Tightly cover the baking dish with foil and bake the lasagna for 40 minutes. Sprinkle the remaining mozzarella and Parmesan cheeses over the lasagna. Continue baking uncovered until the sauce bubbles and the top is golden, 15 minutes longer. Let the lasagna stand for 15 minutes before serving.

Hmmm...wonder what I will be cooking for our next crop on JANUARY 14???? You will not want to miss it!!!

Dreamin' Workshop Kit -- Perfect for all Fall Events!

I am really loving the Dreamin' paper line. Again, it is one of those collections that are so versatile-- the colors scream "Fall" and therefore perfect for your pumpkin patch pics, Thanksgiving memories - but also really great for travel and birthdays. The layout above is from the Dreamin' Workshop on the Go and we will work on it together in class. The one below, is the second layout you can make with your kit and as you can see, I used it for Marc's birthday pictures.

I incorporated the use of our Flip Flaps to create booklets of pictures and therefore make more photo real estate on my layouts. The stamp set used for the title is Headline Alphabet and it is detailed with Liquid Glass. I also incorporated our Art Philosophy Cricut Collection to add the festive touch of presents.

By adding the Dreamin' Stickease and a little more paper and cardstock I was able to make the layouts above and below. I added our new Harvest Charms and Mini Medleys in Honey as well as hemp to add more of a designer touch and some texture.

Dreamin' of my Little Pumpkins...

I love Fall! The colors, delicious foods and baked pumpkin scent all around. Of course, in South Florida you take as much as you can get. This weekend we took Marc & Nathan to the pumpkin patch to add some round orange friends to our home decor. I used CTMH's Dreamin' paper pack to highlight some of our photos.

The fun flowers were made using our Art Philosophy Cricut Cartridge as well as the leaves which were cut out with the Cricut and then stamped. How easy is that! I made the "Pumpkin" title using Dimensional Element alphabets and some stamping, liquid glass and ink. Here is the detail:

Mischief Workshop Time!

Ahhhhh! Halloween time is perhaps one of the most celebrated seasons in our home. The kids look forward to it and frankly, so do I! Always had fond memories of trick-or-treating, parties and fun costumes growing up so I love to share that enthusiasm with our kids as well. Of course, with all the fun comes scrapbooking these memories, so here we go: Mischief Workshop on the Go!

The layout above is the one we will complete together in class. It faetures our Midnight felt shapes, spray pens, glitter gel, and one of my favorite stamp sets, Backdrop-Charmed. The title is stamped with Posterboard Alphabet.

The second layout really showcases how you can use the same paper pack for more than just Halloween. Here is my sweetie Steve about a week before he met me on a trip to France he should have taken me on, lol!:

And back to Halloween, using the some more Mischief paper and our new Complement, Mischief Rub-Ons. These are great - nothing lke Close to My Heart rub-ons for staying power and ease of use. Also, you will notice the shapes cut out with our Cricut Art Philosophy cartridge! SO MUCH FUN!!

Hawaii 4-0 and a great way to end our vacation!

What a great little treat I had for my 40th birthday! Hubby took me to Hawaii to get some R&R. You forget how much you need to get away sometimes and have no schedule or not much to do except relax and have some fun.

A little slice of heaven

After Hawaii, Steve whisked me to Vancouver so I could attend Close to My Heart's Regional Convention. He knows that a perfect vacation also includes a little creative and what better way to do that than getting my inky fingers going with some awesome creative inspiration. Little did I know that I was in for some fun and unexpected recognition:

Sonoma for All Occassions...

It is really great when you have a beautiful paper pack to work with that adapts so well to so many occassions, and leave it to Close to My Heart to do just that. Their new Sonoma Workshop on the Go is one of the two paper packs I will feature in October. Here is the first layout we will complete together:

As you can see, I used this as a layout for me and my hubby Steve. The flowers are made with our new Art Philosophy Cricut cartridge (so very awesome!) and the layout features the colors Smokey Plum, Olive and Cocoa. The dangling charms are part of the new accesories called Heirloom Assortment. The alphabet used for the titles is called Bohemian Alphabet - one of my all time favorites.

The second layout was used for some of my baby pictures that I am starting to preserve to rescue them from those awful peel and stick albums from the past:

Now that kids are Back to School...

We need layouts! And our Typeset Workshop on the Go is perfect for those precious pictures as seen in my previous post...but Typeset can be used for so much more...

This is the second layout form the Workshop using the Cricut Art Philosophy Cartridge. Gotta love that! I also used the Token Alphabet and Vintage Type stamp set on this one.

It's been CHIRPING at our house!

OMG so I have dusted off my Cricut and am in LOVE with our new Close to My Heart Art Philosophy Cartridge!!! There is finally MORE than just cut Cricut paper...so chirp, chirp, chirp I have been working diligently on my new Workshop on the Go for September....school is right around the corner and so is our awesome TYPESET workshop:

Look at all the fun shapes and none of it was cut by hand!!

Fun corrugated chipboard shapes from our Milepost collection are painted with pearl paint and some are stamped! And look at the fun cork color ready adhesive letters!!

Our workshops on the go also come with additional bonus projects that you can create using your leftovers and adding a few products. The Cricut cartridge went to work on the fun shaped cards above (yes, they were all cut on the Cricut!) and adding some cardstock and wooden designer buttons!!

Loving Creative Nights!

I love having the time to play with all of our new and awesome products-- I think I cannot watch TV anymore without keeping my hands busy either. So I get into my nightly creative mode...this was last night's work-- the perfect box for your bling, your photos, your coupons, your cards, recipes or whatever pleases you!

Scrapbooking Crop Goodies!

I love hosting my all day crops. All the ladies had such a good time and were very productive. They all worked on their own to complete some beautiful pages, one worked on her recipe box online, others were busy making cards and had fun shopping, chatting, eating and spending the day together. At my last crop this past Saturday, I had two projects planned fo them using some of our new stamp sets:

Convention Memories and New Found Goals...

Wow talk about a great time in Anaheim.... I wish as I had planned, I had blogged during the event but our beautiful hotel was having some serious wifi connectivity issues and left us hanging. But oh well, here is a little recap:

First, I made sure that my team mates felt welcome and I prepared these little creative journals inspired by those made by Lisa Stenz and wrapped them in cello bags with some snacks for their trip. And of course in true scrapbooking fashion a la Sheryl, we made sure we had plenty of wine for our room.

The first day was Leadership day and there was a lot of training and some glimpses of all the positive and amazing changes to come. As Jeanette says, "we sometimes need to let go of something good, to bring something even better."

It was awesome to finally welcome my team members and we started with a fun dinner at House of Blues. The weather in Anaheim was amazing!!

Here is some of the Memories by Design Team members with our 2nd and 3rd uplines, Julie Reynolds and Karen Morris. Karen's team - the Dream Team is the largest in the company and Karen was just awarded the very prestigious Spirit of Close to My Heart award! Julie was also inducted into this year's Advisory Board. We sure are well represented!!

Simple things make me happy!!! I had reserved seating on the black Director Chairs! So exciting!!

Hubby Steve got us all "Bling on the Scrap" tshirts!!

C-1: Finally Here!!!

So excited to be in Anaheim!!! The weather is perfect! The excitement is growing. Checked into the hotel and there are a ton of consultants already here!

The rooms have been newly renovated and they are very cool. The backboard has music and the fireworks light up! My kids would love it!! Beds are ultra comfy too. Two of my team members are arriving shortly and the rest of the gang will be here tomorrow. Make sure to keep on checking as I will be in Leadership tomorrow and will be posting pics, announcements etc - also on twitter, of course for up to the minute details... Tonight we are going to dinner on the Disney Boardwalk and just getting ready for all the fun to begin!

Journey to Director - A Chronical Beginning.

At last years convention in Washington, after all the fervor of the new products, the creative classes, the business classes, the camaraderie with my team and all the fun that comes with this event, I had a clear mission: achieve the title of Director by Convention 2011. I wanted the recognition, the onstage fun, the extra goodies and gifts and all the perks of getting there. So I embarked on a mission to recruit and grow an already awesome, talented and dedicated team and make my vision of the Memories by Design presence in the Close to My Heart family a bit more pronounced.

When Close to My Heart announced their wonderful promotion in June that included the best ever Consultant kit offer, I rolled up my sleeves, picked up the phone and started sharing. Sharing the wonderful opportunity that the company offers, the fantastic top shelf scrapbooking products that are so coveted in the crafting industry and the fun and joy that comes with building your own business around what you already love to do. Basically, get paid to scrapbook your family & friends.

So recruit I did and I added 13 new consultants to my team with an additional two team members brought in by my downline. And yes, I made Director. I think I exhaled for the first time in thirty days when my title officially changed on my business welcome screen!! The morning it happened, I was surprised by my upline, Janet Swann with a whole bouquet of balloons at work- one for each new team member.

Just last week, I received a little extra surprise from Corporate for reaching my title and getting me ready for Anaheim. A big box was at my doorstep that I was not expecting :):

So now that the team has started to sprout and Convention is upon us, I have decided to tweet (@sheryllevinson) and blog for all of you that will not be able to be there, to experience with me the new products that will be launched, new announcements that will be shared and the excitement and my experience of being a first time Director at Convention. I would like to share with you my Chronicles from Director's Row. I will be updating the blog daily during Convention days July 12-16. Celebrating My Team!

Last night was Unit Meeting night with my wonderful team. We meet once a month for training, recognition, potluck & creative training. I always recognize my top three sellers of the month with something creative they can use to show their customers and have more sample ready. This month I gave them these fun star shaped centerpieces, ready for Fourth of July that feature the July Stamp of the Month, American Celebration. The paper I used is called Fanfare. Wedding Bliss!

I can't believe it had been 5 1/2 years since I married my hubby Steve! Time has really flown by. When I saw the new Close to My Heart Bliss paper pack I knew I had to scrap some of my wedding pictures. Although I have a professionally done book from my photographer, I thought it would still be fun to put some pages together. For the second pages I decided to use a spinoff from a layout that was taught at our last convention using flip flaps. Love it! I got so many pictures in these two pages:

You see how great and how many pics you can get in a layout? Perfect for any ocassion, trip, heritage etc.

A Crazy Busy but Fun Week!!

Hope all you moms out there had a wonderful day getting celebrated for all we do all year long. I know I sure felt appreciated as my hubby and kids really let me have a day of pretty much doing nothing! A bit hard for me to do but it felt good to have some peace and quiet too! Besides the fact that I got one of those fun Keurig machines and I had to make myself four cups of coffee before I went to bed, lol. I am loving it!

Last week was also really special because we celebrated Teacher's Appreciation Week. I made these quick and fun card for Marc & Nathan's teachers.

I also was treated to a Mother's Day Show at Nathan's preschool and they were all so cute! Love these events. Hey even said he did a good job!

Croptastic Time Had by All!!

Thank you ladies for yet another super successful, fun-filled All-Day Crop! I am so grateful to all of you that keep on attending and sharing these days with me. I have already started preparations for our next crop on Saturday, July 30 at Canyon Springs and that one will be extra special as you will receive - HOT OF THE PRESS - your very own copy of the brand new Idea Book!!! A few highlights from Saturday....we had a small number of entries to our challenge of using the die cuts provided and seeing how you interpret using them. Mayberry = FUN!!

As a mom of two boys you are faced with the challenge of how to use all that pretty pink paper, flowers, glitter and fun accessories that do not scream masculine. But you know? Boys deserve to have a little fun too! And when treated correctly, you CAN use flowers, pinks and more "cheery stuff" and still have a great layout with the boys in your life!

This layout above is my version of the Mayberry Workshop on the Go that I will be teaching in April. Prepare to work! There are lots of details and techniques here: we will use our new Kraft paper, our new scallop punch, making fan fold flowers, using our new Designer buttons in the green assortment (WHICH ROCK!!!).

See that alphabet? That is Close to My Heart's new Token Alphabet!!! AND, you can punch it out perfectly with our 1 1/4" inch punch!! Woo hoo! No cutting perfection :)

Here is the second page! You see the scallops treated differently, now accented with large brads and buttons. Another flower type & dry embossing accents our backround paper and mats!

Time to Welcome Spring with Card Class and Another Recipe!

Time for Spring cleaning, spring colors & fun outdoor time! I have some super fun workshops coming that will get you inspired to do just that! Here is the very popular Easter/Spring Card Workshop that I will be teaching on March 29:

I particularly love this set because each card is so different: one is acrylic, one we work with background stamping, creating flowers from our new scallop punch, beautiful button work, using kraft paper, and the awesome stamp sets Springtime and Sensational Season! I also needed to share a much requested recipe that I have from Pampered Chef that is pretty easy and pretty terrific! So try it out sometime:

Chicken & Broccoli Ring
2 cups chopped cooked chicken
1 1/2 cups chopped broccoli
1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
1/2 cup diced red bell pepper
1/3 cup light mayo
1 tsp dried dill
1/4 tsp salt
1 pressed garlic clove
1 egg white lightly beaten
2 (8oz) packages refrigerated cresecent rolls.

Preheat oven to 375. Unroll the crescent rolls and divide into 16 triangles. Arrange the triangles in a circle on a pizza stone, overlapping them on the wide side and the points should be off of the stone facing out. There should be about a 5 inch opening on the middle of the stone.

Combine all other ingredients except egg ina bowl and mix well. Scoop this filling on the wide end of the ring in a circle, distributing it evenly. Now take the points of each triangle and bring them up over the filling and tuck them under the dough in the center forming a ring.

Brush the ring with egg white and bake for about 30 minutes or untill golden brown. Enjoy!

I know it is early for Father's Day but I felt this would be the perfect layout to commemorate this day. Of course, it can be used for so much more!! This is the first layout from the Lucky Workshop on the Go kit and I have modified it and added some extra umph by adding an interactive mini book on the first page:

We get to do it together at the workshop, so no need for you to figure it out! Get ready for some distressing and creative fun with wooden buttons, hemp, metal and friends :) Stamp sets featured besides the one you get in your kit are Rustic Alphabet, Bingo Alphabet, and Enjoy Life.

Here is a fun & flirty card that is still elegant thanks to our new February Stamp of the Month called FRIENDSHIP! I love all these damask images in such fun and bold sizes! Here you can appreciate it as a backround stamp giving a dramatic backdrop to the card. Accent papers in Smoothie & Pear using papers from CTMH Olivia line. The fan fold flowers I cannot get enough of! Bling comes from a shimmer designer brad.

More Sweetness with Sweetheart Workshop....

Just in time for the official launch of the NEW Spring/Summer Idea Book (& Valentine's Day!!).

Isn't this paper just YUMMY!!! It is called Sweetheart and the layout above is part of the Workshop on the Go for February! Loving the colors and versatility of flipping from pink to black! Note the white dots on detail of banner above, as they are made using Liquid Applique and the Craft Heater! The alphabet used for the banner is called Pennant Alphabet and I love it!! So on trend right now too and super versatile! The black heart stickers with white polka dots are part of a whole sticker sheet you will get for free with your workshop! Look at the delicious ribbon! This pom pom ribbon is one of four designs in our new Pink Collection Designer Ribbon. I know I will be using this often!

This is the second page for this fun workshop!

Here on the detail you can see I added fake stitches using one of my all time favorite stamps called Togetherness. I also strung together the pennants for my title using Cranberry Waxy Flax.

This layout is made using the Sweetheart Stickease. I added a few extra pieces of cardstock and the leftover papers from my workshop pack and presto! Look at the luscious heart and swirl ribbon from also from the pink designer collection!

The word "Two" was stamped with the Friendship Alphabet large and then cut out and detailed with Liquid Glass! Look at that ribbon!!!

As promised, here is the recipe for the Corn Casserole I made for you:

Corn Casserole
1 can creamed corn
1 can corn niblets
2 eggs
1 cup sour cream
1 box of Jiffy
1/2 cup melted butter
1 cup shredded cheddar cheese

Preheat the oven to 350. Mix all ingredients except the cheese and pour into a greased casserole dish. Bake for about 30 minutes until lightly browned. Remove from the oven and sprinkle with the cheddar cheese. Return to the oven for an additional 15 minutes or until center is firm.

Awesome Crop Ladies...

Thank you all so much for making my All-Day Crop such a success. It is always great to see all of you enjoy your day and to be able to celebrate special moments with you. Pulled Pork
Large pork shoulder roast (6-10 lbs)
2 Cups of brown sugar
2 1/2 cups of Coca-Cola
3 Tbs. Garlic, minced or pressed
1/2 can od Chipotle peppers in Adobo Sauce

In a food processor, process your peppers in sauce and garlic. Season pork with Kosher salt and place in a slow cooker. Rub the pepper sauce mixture all over the pork roast. Add the brown sugar on top. Pour the soda over the whole thing. Cover the slow cooker and set on low for 12 hours. After this step, take out the roast and remove all visible fat and shred the meat. Transfer all the liquids in the slow cooker to a large measuring cup or fat separator and remove the fat after it has separated. Place the meat and broth back in the slow cooker and cook for another couple of hours.

Salsa Chicken
4 chicken breasts
1 envelope taco seasoning
Salsa of your choice
1 cup of chicken stock
zest of 1 lime

Place chicken breasts in a pressure cooker and add all the other ingredients. Seal your pressure cooker and cook on the Meat function for 20 minutes. Shred the meat and enjoy with your favorite toppings!

Caprese Pasta Salad
1 pound of fusilli pasta
2 Fresh Buffalo Mozarella balls
6 large ripe tomatoes
1 cup fresh basil leaves
2 garlic cloves
1/2 cup extra virgin olive oil
1/4 cup white wine vinegar
kosher salt and pepper to taste

Cook the pasta till right before al dente. Cut the mozarella and the tomatoes into cubes and add to cooled pasta. Make a fresh basil vinaigrette by processing all the remianing ingredients in a food processor. Toss vinaigrette with pasta.

Green Salad Dressing
1 envelope Ranch Dip Mix
1 Cup lowfat milk
1 cup mayonnaise
1 clove of garlic
1 generous bunch of cilantro
Juice of one large lime
1/2 jalapeño pepper - seeds removed

Process all of the ingredients in a food processor until smooth. May be prepared in advance and refrigerated.

Wings Workshop Fun!

Happy New Year!!! I am finally and slowly getting back in the swing of things! Crazy how the holidays can slow you down. Well, I recently returned from my vacation with hubby and was greeted with the wonderful new WINGS Workshop on the Go Kit from CTMH! Awwww - I am in love with this paper!!! So immediately I had to put it together! Added some of our trip pictures too.

The alphabet used is a new one called Bohemian Alphabet and it is awesome!!! And the spray pen rocks! You add re-inker, pearl paint and water and you spray away! Love it!!!!

With the leftover paper from the kit, I created the banner that I could add to my kit (and you can too! for $5.95). The banner comes with decorating instructions in January if you purchase the Wings Workshop on the Go. I tweaked mine a bit.

I also incorporated the January Stamp of the Month, Find your Style - which I love as well!

Tonight I am working on some Level 1 Wings artwork and some Stickease art!

This December marks a very important month in my life...on the 5th we celebrate the 3rd birthday of our son, Nathan. The 16th of December marks nine years since the passing of my mom Olga, whom I miss terribly yet inspires me each and every day. And the 17th is my fith anniversary to my one & only, Steve. Bittersweet inspiration abounds.

When I made this card using the December Stamp of the Month, AMORE, I drew inspiration from these events. The paper choices, names, colors and textures selected all had a place in how I was feeling that day. Unforgettable, Enchanted, Mix & Mingle Album, Smoky Plum, Silver , clear card, opaque pearls, organdy ribbon all played a part in expressing the sentiment. That is why there such a difference between just a card at the store and one that is truly hearfelt for a "card worthy" person. Honey, this one is for you.

Hello Halloween!

We are really on track this year!! Last night we had a wonderful Christmas card workshop and we each created four beautiful cards that can then be duplicated to get started early on the Xmas Card frenzy! Different styles, techniques and shapes graced a lovely set of cards made with our Mistletoe Creative Basics collection. I thank my super sweet customers for always supporting me and attending my events and I am glad that each and everyone of you left happy and with your cards completed!

Fall into Olivia...well its about time!

Ahhhh...Florida weather! Gotta Love it! Ya know, in weather like we are having now it is there is no question why so many snowbirds flock down at this time of the year. It is gorgeous. I do however, miss the beautiful New England days of Fall where the trees would be the ever so perfect shade of reds, yellows, pumkin orange and ivy greens that I had simply ever witnessed in my hometown of Barranquilla, Colombia.

Our next Workshop on the Go for November is called Olivia and it embraces all those tones that I am so fond of. The first Layout (pictured above) is the one we will complete at our workshop. I will be using this for my Thanksgiving pictures. It features sanding, using a stipple brush, heat embossing and generation stamping. The colors are Desert Sand, Cocoa, Smoothie, Sunset & New England Ivy. The alphabet stamp used is Frienship Alpha Large.

The second layout, which uses a pattern out of CTMH's new Magic How-to Book, is really lovely. As you can see, I have used it for my pumpkin patch pictures. I added some stamped images and used my water color pencils for a shaded effect.

The card workshop that is included in this kit is equally gorgeous and also explores all the techniques used in the pages! Below are the pages I created using the Olivia Stickease- I love these stickers! I added some Cocoa Ribbon, Copper Brads, and our new Foundry Flourishes and voila: two more layouts!!!

Hooligans Fun - for Halloween and beyond!

Spooky Fun!

As most of you know, I love Halloween! I really enjoy having fun with my kids and let them pay around with decorations and the more, the merrier...So each year we add a few extra decorations and to our home. I also love sharing my creative fun and having a Halloween night for my customers. Last year we created a layout and had some fun food and even had a blackout LOL - this year, we will be creative a fun decor item to add to your home.

The project is made using our new Mix N Mingle album that comes with assorted acrylic and chipboard pieces. We will also use the New Hooligans felt stickers and paper pack. Fun stamping techniques on acrylic and layered paper pieces. A little bling, a little glitter gel and a lot of fun - will make this a must-attend event!

C'est Magnifique!!!!

Workshop on the Go Layout 1 - We will do this one in class!

Love this paper!!! Close to My Heart has completely outdone themselves with this color palette - which just transports me into the blue waters of the Mediterranean! Pacifica, Lagoon....ahhhh these colors speak to my soul! It is called Magnifique and it will be my Workshop on the Go featured in my birthday month of September! The layout above features a few of my favorite techniques: generation stamping, sueding, paper pleating, and rolled paper flowers. Alphabet used is called The Works. More details:

On this layout, I added some of our Dimensional Elements and left them white for a pop effect. I used the various alphabet dimensionals and one frame from the Framed Fun set!

Thanks for Scrapping all day with me!!

We had a great time this Saturday at my all-day crop! Thank you for all of you who came and supported Operation Smile! As I promised, here is the recipe for the Curried Chicken Salad I served for you! Enjoy!!

Curried Chicken Salad - Easy to double or triple the recipe!

Ingredients:

6 skinless chicken breasts
1 1/2 cups mayonnaise
1/3 cup dry white wine
1/4 cup chutney
3 tablespoons curry powder
2 large celery stalks, finely diced
2 scallions, chopped
1/4 cup golden raisins
1 cup whole roasted & salted cashews

Directions:

Salt your chicken with kosher salt & black pepper. Heat a little olive oil and a pat of butter in a preheated stainless steel skillet and brown your chicken breasts on both sides - do not over cook so they stay moist.
Depending on the size of your skillet, you may want to cook them in two batches. Set them aside to cool a bit.

In a food processor or a blender combine the mayo, the wine, chutney, curry powder, and 1 1/2 tsp. of salt and process until smooth.

Cut your chicken in cubes (I use kitchen shears for this) and mix the chicken with the sauce. Add the celery, scallions, and raisins, and mix well. Refrigerate for a few hours or overnight for best flavor. Serve at room temperature. Mix cashews in just prior to serving.

Rejoice in SPLENDOR!

It has been so much fun playing with the Workshops on the Go kits because they are all so different. The one we are going to be working with in June is called Splendor and it is so much fun. The papers are whimsical and summery. The layout above is the one we will complete at the workshop. Here is a detail of the fun flowers we will create - notice the new Designer Brads on the page and flower too!

The title is stamped using the CTMH Friendship Alphabet - one of my absolute favorites! There is a lot of dimension and texture on this layout. We will also be sanding and glittering using the new Glitz Glue. There are also Irresistible Chipboard pieces that come with the kit that add texture and dimension and will be colored using the coordinating inks.

The second page that you can complete on your own using this kit is totally different! Very whimsical as well as I added stamped images from our new stamp sets Hot Diggity and Over the Rainbow! The title is heat embossed with Colonial White embossing powder. The flowers were made using the new CTMH 1 1/4 " circle punch and secured with the designer brads as well. Lots of fun to make.

Creative Club Class - Address Book!

I am having so much fun creating and sharing with my Creative Club! It truly has been a wonderful complement to my layouts and cards as I get to experiment with different ideas and make useful and thoughful gifts! So, for my third Creative Club, I designed an address book. I love how it turned out. I used papers from our Veranda Creative Basics and Veranda Level 2 paper pack. The stamps featured for the 26 tabs are our Solos which are truly fantastic and are one stamp set per letter and the cover was inspired by the Spring 2010 Idea Book cover using the One of a Kind stamp set. Lots of sparkles adorn the project as well as some metal embellishments including my favorite Foundry Bookplates. A pop of color and dimension also comes from the Just Blooms Spring Blossom Collection. I hope you enjoy it as much as I had fun creating it!

A few great things to end March with...

Welcome back! I hope all of you had a wonderful Easter & Passover. My hubby and I went on a short but much needed vacation to our favorite spots in California - San Francisco, Monterey, Carmel, Napa/Sonoma & Big Sur. As always yummy food, decadent wines and awesome company!

Now that vacation is over, I am working on a lot of projects that I will be posting in the next few days! We have the new Idea Book launching on May 1st with some to die for stamps, yes CTMH did it again - so stay tuned!

Nikki Velasco got engaged to her long time sweetie Sean, we celebrated Jodie Coffman's upcoming birthday and my super sweet customer Keri Malone gave birth to her second boy Cullen Edward (Twilight fans rejoice!). Yesterday was an awesome day. My best friend in the whole world - you know, the one you grew up with that you dreamed your future with, made all sorts of pacts, clubs, and whatever other thought comes to a little girls mind - had her baby shower. So of course I was helping her with the celebration of her second baby boy. It was so much fun to see her, as it always is, because that kind of friendship reminds you the importance of creating and preserving childhood memories. Here I am with my sweet Flavia, a person whom everyone seems to love, and that makes the world a better place.

I made a diaper cake for her which was tons of fun. I had always wanted to make one!

Diapers are ready for Nicolas!

Mondays are good!

I hope everyone had a nice weekend. We did here in Florida. The temperature is starting to climb back up and the sun was shining so I cannot complain. Had a nice weekend with the kids - and I get reminded every second of how blessed I am but boy, I am getting old! We did some baking, cooking, coloring and running outside, played lots of Mancala and I have Wow Wow Wubbzy episodes logged in my brain permanently.
I did however, have a little time to scrapbook! I actually completed this two page layout using a Level 1 Kit (Topstitch). It was for my Valentine Dance party with Marc at his school. It was fun and easy to make and it was instant gratification.

I added some Dimensional hearts. Some were covered in the patterned paper and some were simply inked.

There is minimal stamping - just used some scrolls from the Topstitch Workshop on the Go and the title is stamped using the Chocolate and Delightful alphabet stamp sets. Hope you like it!

I also worked on a super cute boxed card set which I will teach at Unit Meeting this month - pictures to come soon!
